Mr. Brian A. Friedrich, Director of Bands

Mr. Brian Friedrich is the current Director of Bands at Staunton Community Schools. He is the next installment in a long line of great conductors, musicians, and directors at Staunton Schools.  Mr. Friedrich conducts the Staunton Beginning Band, Staunton Intermediate Band (Formerly known as 6th Grade Band), The Staunton J.H. Marching Terriers, The Terrier Pep Band, The Staunton Junior High Concert Band, The Staunton High School Marching Bulldogs, The Bulldog Pep Band, and The Staunton High School Concert Band. Mr. Friedrich also teaches Music Appreciation and Music Theory at Staunton High School.

Brian Friedrich comes to Staunton from Joliet, Illinois. He is a graduate of the Joliet Music Tradition of Excellence.  He graduated from Joliet Elementary District 86 where he was educated under Wesley Russell, Scott Gumina, Don Johnson, and John Armstrong. While at the Elementary Level, he was a part of the Internationally know Joliet All City Band and Joliet All City Jazz Band. Mr. Friedrich graduated from Joliet West High School in 2003, where he had the privilege to study under Mr. Kevin Carroll, Current Director of Bands at Joliet West High School.

Mr. Brian Friedrich is in his first year of education.  He Graduated from Western Illinois University in May of 2008.  While at Western, Mr. Friedrich participated in various performing ensembles.  He was a member of the Marching Leathernecks, The WIU Concert Band, The WIU Jazz Band, The WIU Brass Ensemble, The Advantage A Capella Octet, and Phi Mu Alpah Sinfonia Glee Ensemble.  Mr. Friedrich is an accomplished trumpet and baritone performer.  He has studied under Jeff McMillan, Carlo Isabelli, Dr. John Cooper, and Dr. Bruce Briney on Trumpet.  

Mr. Friedrich currently holds affiliations with Blue Key Honor Society, The Boy Scouts of America, National Band Association, Music Educator's National Conference, International Trumpet Guild, Illinois Music Educators Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
