The Intermediate Band
The Staunton Intermediate Band is comprised of 6th Grade students from Staunton Junior High, Zion Lutheran, and St. Michael's Schools in Staunton. They study a variety of Literature designed to refine the basic music skills needed that the students learn Beginning Band. The Students meet twice a week for full band rehearsal, once a week in private lessons and give a concert at the end of each semester.
Students in Intermediate Band are exposed to classic literature written for young bands and well as literature that the students can relate to.
Students in the Intermediate Band use Accent on Achievement Book 2 as supplemental literature to be used in class and as homework. Intermediate students are required to practice two and a half hours a week as homework for class. Each student has a practice record that must turned in each week signed by a parent. Proper practicing techniques should be either 20 minuets a day for seven days a week or 30 minutes a day five days a week.
