Questions and Answers:
Who is in the Beginning Band?
The Staunton Beginning Band is comprised of 5th Graders from Staunton Elementary School, St, Michaels Catholic School, and Zion Lutheran school in Staunton, Illinois. The Beginning Band is open to everyone who has a desire and passion to become more involved in music while having a ton of fun.
How Do I Join?
To join the band program at Staunton, interested parents and students must attend the informational night held in May. At this meeting parents and students can ask questions concerning their involvement in band.
How Do I choose My instrument?
Staunton Bands in conjunction with Mancell Music, Inc. and Halpin Music, Inc. have an instrument try-out night in late May. This is the time for students to try-out and audition for certain instruments. Students have a choice for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, and Percussion. Space is limited for certain instruments in the ensemble.
What is my commitment to band?
By joining band students are saying I want to do something special. Every student that joins band has a one semester (After Winter Concert) commitment to give band a full chance and experience everything band has to offer. After that semester students may choose to drop band only if they have Parents permission.
